Caroline, 38, attended a dinner party the night before, which costs about £650.

Instead of sharing the expenses with her staff, she made the £200 trip for Ruby, paid with money from a day's pay.

The dog had gone into her freezer and was due to be cooked for the evening party in her Kensington home.

But Ruby decided to go for a walk in the park with staff member Fiona Phillips.

It was a 'nice treat' and Ruby enjoyed running free, Fiona told The Sun.

Following her overdose, Caroline had been 'behaving erratically', according to relatives.

She then suggested a 'relaxing day' with friends and family as well as leaving room for a trip to a spa.

Caroline left messages on social media and text her partner Andrew Brady at about 1.30pm, asking to meet up.

The 'geeky' new X Factor panelist called him a 'little turd' and 'infatuous man' as he walked back to the house after arriving in her car.

When she arrived at home at 5pm on Sunday she discovered Ruby's body.

Frantic efforts were made to revive her with CPR but she was pronounced dead at 5.15pm.

Neighbours said Caroline had 'gone a bit bananas' and they 'were worried about her'.

Her family did not wish to talk about the matter.
