Dry January is over! Winter revellers take to the town over the weekend
Dry January celebrations have come to an end with families in Manchester celebrating New Year at a variety of themed parties.
Manchester City Digger was the main venue hosting a range of hot nights with various bands, DJs and comedians.
For some it was the prospect of free food and drinks that deterred them from going to such evenings last year. But while munching on scrumptious dishes and warming up at the firepit you were free to enjoy drinks, never mind slim in front of the fireplace.

Organisers said: 'Everyone loves a bit of tradition. We are all a bit more organised these days, so we thought we would do some, this is Manchester we like to do things the normal way.'
Attendees enjoyed free food and drinks, mouth watering music, strobe lighting, giant inflatables and a massive fire pit at the attraction.
Fun on Sunday evening were family-friendly events such as Zumba from 11am and theme shows from 6pm - with headliners including Estelle and Stacey Solomon.
Saturday evening saw a bigger and better turnout than they first thought. Zumba, smoothie bar and casino took up the full day.
The group said: 'We had hoped for 3,000 but got 6,000 last night and this morning we have around 5,000 people all enjoying themselves.'
The theme parade featured over 700 performers across nine zones as a full-cast-of-characters dressed up in the best of fireworks, samba and glamour to entertain thousands in and around the one square mile surrounds of the venue.
